The Elliot Lake Junior Hockey board has sold its first 2020/2021 season tickets for the Elliot Lake Red Wings games.
Len Kutchaw, Elliot Lake Junior Hockey board, says the first season tickets were sold to Doreen and Marc MacKay, big hockey supporters in the community.
There is a bit of a bonus for the first 20 people who get their season tickets. They will get a light windbreaker and a seat cushion, both in the Elliot Lake Red Wings colours, said Paul Noad, managing director of the company hired by the board to manage the Red Wings this season.
Noad added that when the Wildcats organization opted to sit out the 2019/2020 season prior to the start of the season many of the season ticket holders received refunds. However, some did not want refunds. Instead they wanted to carry their tickets over to the Elliot Lake team’s next season.
“We’re going to honour that,” says Noad.
The early bird ticket price is $226, which runs until Sunday, June 13. The regular adult season ticket price is $380, and the seniors’ season ticket price is $316.
There is also a premium package season ticket selling for $339, which includes a season ticket, vouchers, a seat cushion and the Alumni game.
A family pass, which has four season tickets, costs $711.90.
These tickets can be purchased online and paid for by credit card or e-transfer. One can also mail a cheque made out to Elliot Lake Red Wings and mailed to: 180 Spruce Avenue, Elliot Lake, ON, P5A 2C8.
Regular single game tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and for students and youths $8. For children under age five admission is free, but they must be accompanied by an adult.
Noad and the hockey staff are eager to get the training underway, which will likely take place in August.
“We’re looking to bring a good team, and we think a good bunch of people who are all looking forward to try and help the kids out,” says Noad.
“We’ll try to make the playoffs the first year; it would be a good start for a team that didn’t field a team last year.”
The Elliot Lake Red Wings are planning to hold the Red Wings Golf Tournament on Aug. 28 at Elliot Lake’s Stone Ridge Golf Course. The tournament will begin at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start. Tickets to take part are $125 each. They are available on the team’s website https://www.elliotlakeredwings.ca.
